Emerging artist Dorothy Davies’ work aims to intensify the still life experience by creating a calm and contemplative mood whilst capturing the beauty of transient natural and found objects
Prior to painting, Dorothy has enjoyed an award-winning career in packaging and corporate design. She worked for a number of the best design firms in Sydney and London, before running her own design practice in Australia and the UK.
In 1986 she was named Australia’s most outstanding packaging designer.
Influenced by her background in packaging design, Dorothy loves to explore and closely observe the natural packaging of fruit and flowers, as well as household objects - especially traditional Chinese porcelain.
More recently Crispin Ackerman has mentored Dorothy in the finer points of the still life art form.
