Jeannette Dyson was born in South Australia in 1949, but came to Perth as a small child.

She attained her Diploma of Art Studies at Forrestfield Technical College, receiving awards in the final year of painting and studio ceramics.

Jeannette, is married and has a son and daughter,

Jeannette was Vice President of the Kununurra Arts Council created and Managed two Kununurra Art Galleries, Resident Artist at the Kununurra District High School, teaching at Kimberley College of TAFE and private tuition.

Among the many prizes and Art Awards she has won, have been the Royal Agricultural Show (Rural Artist of the Year), City Of Belmont Art Award, Liddelow Bicentennial Art Awards (both Oil and Watercolour sections), Cockburn Bicentennial Art Awards and culminating in the prestigious Melville Art Awards, Ord Festival and East Kimberley Acquision Award , Shinju Matsuri, Kimberley Art Award , Cossack Major Art Award and the Beverley Contemporary Art Award.

Her paintings are included in many private collections, sponsored acquisitions purchases, overseas and Government collections (Premiers & Minister of Health Offices) and has exhibited in London, Paris and New York.

Her love of the Western Australian landscape is apparent throughout her work.  Capturing the unique colours and textures, Flora and Fauna of the Northwest, using a variety of techniques in oils, acrylics, ochres (Kimberley) and gouache.

This has made her aware of all the influences that have formed her own identity, specifically that of the Kimberley, Pilbara and the Northern Territory (Kakadu) enabling her to present exciting new exhibitions.

Having spent 6 years in the Avon Valley wheat belt & due to her husbands appointment as Senior Inspector, WAQIS on the NT / WA border & subsequent transfer back to Kununurra, and a return in 2006 to the Bedfordale Hills area, the Kimberley still  remains a constant inspiration for her painting.

Due to a promotion for my husband and subsequent transfer to the Kimberley as Senior Inspector at the WA/ NT border, a life time change developed for me as an artist.

A resident in the Kimberley for a decade, I painted daily at the Red Rock Art Gallery in a cultural exchange Studio environment sharing Kimberley ochres (with my addition of gold and pearl dust) with Indigenous artists.

There is a certain feeling and attitude that evolves from living in a place considered to be isolated, wild, natural and untouched which makes you feel free spirited and gives me inner peace and a desire to express through my art.

In my paintings I seek to portray and celebrate the Uniqueness of the Australian North, the spatial isolation and texture of the landscape in a contemporary interpretation.
